If you find that you are having difficulty accessing Planetfurry.com, Kaisha.cx, Chrisfoxx.com, or any other hosted site or their member sites, and are running of the following versions of Microsoft Windows:
- Microsoft Windows Server 2003, 64-Bit Enterprise Edition
- Microsoft Windows Server 2003, Enterprise Edition
- Microsoft Windows Server 2003, Standard Edition
- Microsoft Windows XP Professional
- Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition
- Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition
- Microsoft Windows XP Tablet PC Edition
- Microsoft Windows 2000 Advanced Server
- Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional
- Microsoft Windows 2000 Server
- Microsoft Windows NT Server 4.0
- Microsoft Windows NT Server 4.0 Terminal Server Edition
- Microsoft Windows NT Workstation 4.0
... and haven't patched the RPC vulnerability, or haven't removed the MSBlast or Luvsan worm virus from your PC, the server may be blocking you. Just counting today up to now, the server has blocked over 500 attempts to exploit this vulnerability (though since the server is running Linux, it wouldn't matter). The server then blocks the offending address attempting to attack for a period of time, during which you would not be able to access the server at all.
Please make sure you have patched your copy of Windows. You can either go to http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com to get this patch, or http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=823980 . |
