Around what time of day are you getting these messages? And could you provide more details as to what you were doing during specific instances of the error, like if you were searching, posting large messages or attachements, etc.

Whip, I saw an almost exact same error, once.

Posting around 11:30pm EST, yesterday: June 30th...

Instead of getting the "your message was posted" page, I got that error. Fish told me to reload the page, it lagged for a couple of minutes, but the message was evetually posted.

Are you posting rather large messages?

All I can think of is Apache was resetting itself during the time, for one reason or another. I've yet to see error occur when I use the BBS, though. Sad

That was about when I was getting that problem too...

I posted it as soon as I got it, so it'd be 10:33 EST

I've bumped up the amount of memory PHP can use, so if it still happens please let me know.

Well, today, while viewing a post, I got this error instead:

Error Code wrote:
phpBB : Critical Error
Could not open subSilver template config file
DEBUG MODE
Line : 326
File : /home/virtual/site1/fst/var/www/html/forums/includes/functions.php

(July 10, 2003: 12:29am EST)

Refreshing brought the page back, btw.
Its been working a little sluggish, but other wise fine. I'll blame the slugginess on the school's firewall. Mr. Green

Almost forgot, it was on the KWKAT Forum threads, the first one I clicked on, Rava's "July 8" thread.

I was rebuilding some of the template files, which caused some to have to be deleted and readded. It was only a temporary problem.

As for sluggishness, when did it start acting this way? I have added a few background services that do use a little bit of the CPU, but overall they shouldn't cause too many problems...

Sorry for the delay in responding.
No, the slugginess I believe is from my end, since it happens on all sites when I'm working on the school's network.

The firewall is on a terribly slow machine and it filters everything!!! Yet the kids can still circumvent it and get their fair share of mp3's and porn aways...

But, in cases where its slower than normal, I'll let you know. Mr. Green

Keep up the good work.

Attached files are a source of increased bandwidth usage, so I decided to only allow registered users to have access to them. It also prevents direct linking from other sites, etc.

*chuckle* To top things off for today, the server died, about 2 minutes after you posted that message. Very Happy

Looks like a weird hard drive glitch. Sad Argh.

Nah. Wink

Eventually I will be upgrading the server once again to a much larger box, with more capacity with memory, CPU(s), and hard drives. It's scheduled to be looked more into later this year, with a possible upgrade late 2003 or early 2004. This time the hardware I purchase will be more fit for the job. Wink
