Well, the jubilations have come too early.

At first the card seemed to work well but then I think I made a mistake when I installed the software. Now I can't see anything... well, I can see a few things but no programs I want to start.

All in all that means I will make a complete reinstall of my system. In fact, I have to do that 2 times.

Ergo I won't be on for the next few hours.

See you later tonight (hopefully).

Okay. I've got a Radeon 9000 Pro and XP Pro myself. Smile

A tip -- if you can, don't use the drivers on the CD.

Make sure you're using DirectX 8.1 (or 9) and then go to ATi's website and get the newest Catalyst download. I've got it here locally, and can give you a direct URL or AIM it to you if you want.

No prob. You want this file:

wxp-w2k-catalyst-7-91-030625a-010027c-efg.exe

It's brand new and really easy to find on the ATi page. Smile

well, it seems like there is a problem with my HD too and I really don't feel like dealing with that now.

I think I'll bring the computer to somebody who knows what he is doing and let him take care of it. My cousin's husband's brother has already installed 2 computers for us.

I'll see what will happen. I'll keep you guys updated.

Well, I'm back... sorta. My computer is running again and I'm working on getting the basic stuff installed.

No graphics problems do far, with one exception. There is some texts it doesn't display, the "Planetfurry.com BBS" line at the top of the page for example. They are there (I can see them when I highlight them) but it's like white text on a white background. The only other program where I've encountered the same error so far is Eudora. I can't see the "Subject", "Address" etc. lines when I compose a main and the there is no writing in the selected button (but not in the button of the task bar, only the ones in Eudora)

Anybody else encountered this problem?

BTW: I'm sorry for using this topic for my PC problems. It just kinda happened.
