Wow.
I just now managed to get through 40 a and b. Ye gawds...
Friday is going to be one continuous, torturous, rolling, roiling nightmare.
The best way I can see it turning out - the best, I say - is Elijah taking the day off and pounding himself to exhaustion, preferably by spending the day breaking things. Boards, furniture, his knuckles... And this isn't a preferable course for him right now. Between Gabrielle and Mikka, the guilt freighting on his shoulders has to be well beyond rated tonnage and approaching stress failure loads. And doesn't he have that blooded sword...?
I don't think he's going to get off that easy, though. He's going to force himself to carry on, which is going to put him square in the path of several oncoming stress inducers. All those bombshells arcing in at the target that is Doctor Elijah Khan... By the end of the day, he's going to need emergency measures. And I don't think any responsible barkeep is going to allow him the dosage required. By nightfall, he's probably going to be searching for someplace quiet to curl up and gibber. Or else he's beyond mortal limits.
I can't speculate further. This is... wow.
Serr Khan, your brother needs a visit from a calming influence. I'm thinking Dr. Wolff is about to become severely necessary... |

The day is here.
It's Friday, folks. Need I say more?
Go read.
Maybe you expect it, but it will still be something you won't forget.

Oh, my...
Folks, I have some very bad feelings about this. The breaking point has been reached, passed... hell, vaulted over. I think it's painfully obvious that Dr. Khan is planning (as much as he can, right now) a permanent solution to everything.
And the thought that occured to me as the chapter closed: Richard had best hope that the authorities have put him back in some form of custody well before anyone finds the doctor. If he's still in the presence of all those femmes if and when they hear about anything bad befalling Khan... What's the wartime axiom? Never let them give you to the women alive? If he wasn't a praying fur before, now would be an excellent time to begin... |

Not exactly one of Khan's better days...
Well, the fuse was already quite short...
And now someone (several someones) used a flamethrower to light it...

As bad as things look now, I get this funny feeling that we haven't quite seen the good Doctor completely hit rock-bottom yet. That, my friends, is a truly frightening thought. _________________ "For a man to help others with all his gifts and native strength: that is the noblest work." - Sophocles

I have alway pictured Fate as a femm, who goes around wairing steel toed boots. When ever someone bends over in front of her, she kicks them in the ass..... Khan must have bent over and droped his pants this day, because fate has jumped all over him. I hope they get to him before he is able to make the attempt.
On a side note, has any of the staff seen to the dead and dieing out in the van?? _________________ Kelly (the bobcat) McAllen |

Once again, a very powerful chapter. I'm sure Khan will pull out of this eventually, I think I know who will stop him from doing it, though, or at least, save his life. Someone who owes Khan more than his life... _________________ ~Sammie the Pizza Box
