Now that we have a human in the Sabbyverse, how is the world going to react to him? (Not on a personal level, more on a general level).
Staying hidden in the woods is not going to be an option for him, he's going to try to lead a (more or less) normal life. What are his chances of doing this?

Question Since this story takes place in the equivalent of the USA, and I don't live there, I'd appreciate and input on how one would go about trying to get a normal life into gear. Apply for a work permit, citizenship, ... all those stupid stuff one has to take care of. Question

I fluctuate between any of the bad ones and the Instant Celebrity, so I voted for Instant Celebrity. (I can be very pessimistic about my country, and when I'm depressed at the same time... Confused )

Hmm, I wonder if he could end up working for Zig Zag...Laughing

If it is a true society of furs then they must feel free to accept most forms of 'intelligent' life, like humans...

The premise of the Subrinaverse is that different species live more or less in harmony. There would be and are problems of course, such as those who are Purists. But most stories paint them as elitist (marrying the same species) but not genocidal. Having a "New" species wouldn't be such a stretch in that environment. In fact, none of the stories have defined a "Limit" to the intelligent species, so he could be passed off as a rare species that no one has documented yet. Wink

Humans seem to have both problems, so the worlds are not equal. Sarah would have a MUCH more difficult time in a Human world. Rolling Eyes

What to do to have a Human fit in?
.. Have him recognized as sentient.
.. Full medical battery of tests.
.. Register his Species.
.. Register him with the government. (Green Card)
.. Once he has a Green Card, he can get a work permit.

Now he can pay taxes like any other fur, and the government would be happy. Twisted Evil

Now I realize that I've perhaps bitten off a bit more than I could chew with all that. It's not that I did not realize I would have to take (approximately) these steps, but the more I think about it, the more I realize that I have no real idea on how to play them out.
Whenever I try to think about any "paperwork" kind of stuff my mind goes blank. Confused Evil or Very Mad
But these things are too important for the story to just have them happen offstage.

It is quite a lot to do, and would require (IMHO) many chapters to do right. (If you include a story along with it. Wink) Doing the first three could, with care, easily be a novel length story depending on how much mistrust furs have toward a "Hairless Freak with a flat face and no tail".

Sarah displayed an admirable amount of caution with her guest, but she seems pretty easy going. Other furs, when faced with the unknown may not. Winning trust to a larger audience could be a big step to overcome.

The issue of sentience is either easy or not. I've wondered about those stories (Gone Wylde, to pick on one) that have ferals that communicate with the "primary" furs. What determines sentience? Are there laws in fur society that determine what "Class" a fur fits in? Tests?

Medical tests are a given. But extreme medical tests, aren’t. Shocked

Recognizing his Species could include registering. I'm taking a note from Kevin and Kell with their "Species Registry" here. Since none of the other stories have mentioned it (That I'm aware of) you could (and perhaps should) ignore this.

Let’s not forget that the government (United Species of America, or USA) would be a very different one then what exists today with humans. The paperwork may be easier than you think! Wink

That’s enough for now. If anyone (Please) wants to add or rebut any of this, feel free!

I guess he could use a fur that is a good friend of Mulder and Scully. Cool

Hmmm, you may have given yourself an 'out' as it were, when you added the 'Star Voyager Human' comment. Although he may not match everything in the 'Voyager' storyline, his acceptance is more likely due to it, after all, would we (as humans) react as badly if a 'Star Trek' alien showed up in the flesh...

I'd say it depended on which alien it was...

Vulcans are such stiffs that there should be a bounty on them...

Clingons... Well...
Would probably be popular among wrestling fans and rednecks...

Q?
Would probably end up being mugged while walking through Queens after dark...

Yes, I'm rooting for the Borg, but they would probably find themselves besieged by Nerds...
(Or scrap metal scavengers)

The only good that ever came from Star trek was Paul S Gibbs' work. (www.sahaaran.com)

The "Star Voyager" is not exactly "Star Trek" or the "Voyager" series of that, but something similar.

Confused Hmmm, now I have to think about how the humans of "Star Voyager" are portrayed in the film. That might make a big difference on how the furs he meets for the first time react to him.
Are they one of the allies of the furries. Are they portrayed as honorable and trustworthy. Or are they the main enemies, those who want to conquer the whole galaxy, evil and untrustworthy to the core. Confused

Excellent point! Since that is the only frame of reference for most furs.

I vote for allies. Wink

That could get interesting:
"Coming soon... the latest by ZZ-Studios:
You haven't seen real nudity until you've seen Furless - Freak of Nature!"

And as soon as the movie is out ZZ-Studios get sued by the producers of Star Voyager for copyright infringement. Instead of paying a gazillion dollars in royalties they will have to hand over the "technology" used to create an alien that looks more realistic than the "original". Laughing

Then everything depends on how furs would see a human: as a fur of exotic and rare species (then Chris is just another illegal immigrant) or as a non-fur, an animal, an alien.

That would be the "official" way. And it would probably stop somewhere between step 1 and 3, when the authorities realize that he is an alien. Someone responsible for "security" would take over and the usual paranoid questions would start: where does he come from? Are there more of his kind? Will more of them arrive? What are their intentions? Can they be trusted? Can he be trusted?

Shocked Laughing Funny, but I can't really see this happening. At least not with this title.

I've had a story on my mind about interdimentional travel where a human goes to sabrina-verse. Only thing is that my characters human bodies don't go anywhere. Concept's a little hard to explain at 10pm after a night where i slept for about 5 hours.

If their bodies don't go anywhere how could they travel to the sabrinavers, are talking about mental projection or something like that?
