Well, for the last (almost) two years, it's been roughly eight hours of walking combined with light lifting-and-carrying an average of seven days every two weeks. Work. See, my job involves moving 15-pound lot boxes on and off of the tools I work with, over and over and over again. And since last year's Anthrocon, they've been cutting team sizes, while raising our targets. Means I'm getting more and more exercise all the time.

I measured it out with a pedometer one week. In three days, I almost reached a hundred miles... 97 and change. And since I hardly ever drive any more (only when I'm going to have to move an unmanageably large load), I figure I blew past the century mark by the end of my first day off. Funny thing is, that wasn't a particularly busy week... I'm just guessing, but I figure I probably top 125 miles a week fairly consistantly. It's no wonder I've dropped better than eighty pounds since I started here.

But for those of you who've griped about Dunlop Disease - I'm fighting it too. Still. Talked with the sight fitness director/ergonomic specialist, and found out something... discouraging. That spare tire is gonna be the last thing that goes, barring surgery. See, the way the body adds fat is from the middle outward... and the way it loses it is from the extremities inward. So the belly's going to hang in there 'til the end.

Ah, well. There's no "magic bullet". The only way to deal with it is eat less and exercise - that's what I'm doing, and will continue to do.

Embarassed Ummm, ok I know everyone is going to hate me, but I'm a martial artist, and I usualy train about three times a week so I can stay fit and improve my skills a bit. I also play a bit of tennis too. Though I have had a slump where I didn't train for about three years, but that was about a year or two ago Mr. Green

Very Happy Nope, not everyone. I understand where you're coming from - been there, a long time back. Trying to get back into it, but it'll take a while.

Well when I was allowed to excerise till a few years ago, (Long story) I would do a combination of things to stay in shape. Swimming, weight training, jogging, martial arts, and rock climbing. It's pretty much what I used to get myself in shape, and to bulk up. I was pretty much built up like Fish was at one time before Doc told me to stop excercising or else...So now I'm stuck with fat, and flabby lose skin, and stretch marks where muscle once was. In other words I look like crap now from lack of excercise. My heartrate then after a 3 mile run was 159bpm 15mins exact, now though I probably get that just walking for five minutes. I'm pretty messed up so it'll be a long time before I'm even half way back to my normal self.

Thankfully I've never really had to worry about my body weight being an issue when I was applying for the marines, (Which I'm glad they don't take anyone that fails the psyche test!) since I was roughly at the exact weight limit they'd allow. 6' 3" at 215pds on the dot....now though no thanks to cytoxan i weigh in at 235pds, and lost nearly 70% of my original muscle mass to years worth of Kemo and Radiation treatments. So I'm quite weak now, except when you anger me that is, then I'll show you just how strong I can be.

Myself, I get enough exercise lugging a tuba and case (combined weight of about 25 lbs.) up and down six flights of stairs on a daily basis.

I used to do tae-kwon-do (blue stripe) but my dojo got a really lousy headmaster, so I left.
