http://www.facerig.com

It's software that uses facial recognition to transfer your facial expressions and movements to an avatar of your choice, which can obviously be furry as seen in their promo video. It says you can create your own characters.

Watch the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cbIWRd514-s

Think about it. This is not just cool for us furries, to make chatting face to face via webcam much, much cooler and more interesting, but think about what it could do for the artist community!

Right now artists take commissions to design or draw your fursona right? But if Facerig lets you design your own fully realized avatar, why wouldn't artists be able to do that too? You could potentially commission a willing artist to design YOUR fursona for Facerig, if your design skills (like mine) are not up to the task.

I mean if I could actually appear as Kantaro for a web chat, I'd be much more inclined to do it.

Crative Labs cameras come with software that does something similar for free. It's not too bad, though wearing glasses confuses it about where you're eyes are looking. Best part is it works with anything that uses the camera.

EverQuest2 has had a system where a camera watches you so when you use the in-game voice chat, your character mimics your expression, mount movements, etc. Pretty neat.

That sounds nifty Hikaru. Too bad I could never get into those games.
