Well folks, it's time to pop the lid on this I guess.
Last year, I began writing a sci-fi story called "Nachter". It's a working title, and the word doesn't have any meaning as such. It's a word derived from German, related to both "Nach" meaning "after" and "Nacht" meaning "Night". It's extremely dystopian and it's an attempt at writing "intelligent science fiction".
Not the classic space western, not the typical laser-blasts-and-light-speed caper but a deeper story in the same spirit as for instance "Defiance".
I began writing it and I made good progress for a while. I got to chapter 15, and then it died on me. Or rather, I knew the story wasn't dead but I was dreadfully stuck. I didn't know how to continue. This past friday, I got some inspiration after talking to a few good friends about it, and I think I know why I got stuck.
I haven't shown it to anyone here, for several reasons. Firstly, it's hopefully something I can publish, and secondly, it's non-furry. I'm going to get back to it now, though ... now that I've reread the chapters myself and with fresh ideas and inspiration.
I know it won't stop me from writing on Transitions and Defiance, but it'll naturally take up time and slow my writing process down. Having a go at three stories at once is ... not easy.
All I'm asking is that people bear with me if I fall behind on a chapter. |

What you do for us, like most furry authors, you do out of the goodness of your heart, Filly. Woe be to any fur who tries to hold you to a schedule ...
This is the first I've heard of "Nachter." I'm intrigued. We must discuss this.

Kellan! SHHHH! We're not supposed to let on like we've proofed......oops!
Anyway, it's a really great story, and when Aslaug is ready to publish, I can assure you you'll enjoy it if you like well written, imaginative sci-fi.

Just finish it so that I can buy it!
(I assume that it's going dead woods edition, not online. )
My bookshelf could use another infusion of awesome... _________________ "My name's Lion, Anthony Lion"

... another infusion of awesome ...
Gotta remember that one, Anthony It's got a good ring to it.
Anyway, the strange thing about Nachter is that those who have proofed it so far have all apparently taken to it in a MASSIVE way, and I'm really at a loss for what it is about this story that appeals to them so strongly.
Apparently, though, it seems to strike a cord. |

In my reading repertoir, furry/non-furry is just another sub-genre that has little bearing on whether I read it. Wave a scifi or fantasy story in front of me and I'm all over it.

I'm debating whether to start working on (more than just ideas for) a Metamor Keep story before I finish my first story attempt and send it to Mike. The mere news that you're working on these makes us happy. _________________ "Cogito, ergo es. I think, therefore you is." Ray D. Tutto (King of the Moon) to Baron Munschaussen |

I would love to get a preview of the story but seeing that I'm totally useless as a proffer so I'm not going harass you about it.
Still it will be nice to see something non-furry out of you. _________________ Bad moods are like hangovers, they eventually go away. - A. Sigurd Olson |
