Been wearing glasses for over a decade... and to be totally honest, I fall into the category of person who has just gotten used to the smudges. My foxy on the other paw, she is obsessed with keeping hers clean, and dont understand how I can see out of my glasses.
I have just recently started using a micro-fiber cloth, but even with it, I have found I might have to run em under a sink for a minute or two with hot water.
I too tried contacts.... ick... Couldn't ever get them to be comfortable, getting them in and out was easy enough for me... it was just a comfort issue while wearing them.

I've never been able to wrap my mind around intentionally putting some foreign object (a contact lens) into my eye. I just ... can't do it. <shrugs>

I wore glasses for 50 years. (Had cataract surgery a couple years ago.) Still have to wear them for reading and computer.
Smudges are unavoidable. A microfiber cloth and some cleaning solution is the best bet. I had a routine of cleaning them daily when I got up in the morning. Sometimes I'd have to clean them mid-day. Cleaned them as needed when I was doing sweaty work.
Anything paper will scratch plastic lenses eventually. Having them 'scratch coated' (an option when you order them, and well worth it, as is an anti-reflective coating) will slow that process for a while. After 4-5 years, you will need new lenses even if your prescription hasn't changed, because of the scratches. _________________ Nicolai

So get surgery and smash those suckers with a mallet! _________________ Insane and loving it!

I don't think my insurance covers that and I'm finally starting to see sunlight at the end of this debt tunnel I drove myself into. Plus I only have one good eye to start with I'd rather not risk it getting worse cause surgeon was having a bad day. _________________ "Political Correctness is tyranny with manners." Charlton Heston

I know I'm weighing in a little late on this one. But I've been wearing glasses for most of my life. In high school I switched to contacts, but went back to glasses when I started working construction. Welding and contacts don't mix. To remove smudges the best thing I've found is a micro fiber cloth like the others have been mentioning. As for a cleaning solution I use a 50/50 mix of rubbing alcohol and water. _________________ Beware the light at the end of the tunnel, just might be the headlights of my speeding truck. =0.0.=

I've been using glasses for 25years, and I use a small spritz-bottle the size of an AA battery and a 'no-name' tissue. I used to use a microfibre cloth, but as its now covered in gunk and looks like a health hazard, tissues it is.
(I like to wipe away the grase and dirt on the nose pads and the mounts for them. )
The spritz-bottle doesn't last very long, but I've found a way to pry off the spritzer and refill it.(It wasn't meant to be refilled... )
Most big chains sell larger bottles with cleaning-fluid meant to 'top up' more expensive miniature spritzers.
My glasses are plastic lenses with anti-scratch and anti-glare coating, and also have a 'gradual' brown colouration. All mounted in a very old titanium frame.(I don't buy a new frame when I get new lenses.)
The combination plastic and titanium makes for very light glasses. _________________ "My name's Lion, Anthony Lion"

Yeah, I saw that this morning too. I just wonder how un-godly expensive it's going to be. _________________ "Political Correctness is tyranny with manners." Charlton Heston

My biggest concern is that they're butt-ugly, to say the least...
Don't think I need them... yet...

The round lenses are necessary for the way they work but I don't need them either not at a $850 base price _________________ "Political Correctness is tyranny with manners." Charlton Heston

Nice innovation there but I don't think I'll be getting a set of those for a while. Just too rich for my blood. _________________ Asalis: (uh*sah*lis)
