and you know the thing that kills me is how the media has blown up the fact of whats going on in iraq. ya it sucks dragon dung that so many people have givin the ultimit, but they make it sound like the end of the world, when we lost more people in one day on D-Day than we have in the entire 8 years we have been policeing iraq. _________________ to each their own

I think the main concern has been over finances, where DoD would spend as much money per day as NASA would spend in a year on the Space Shuttle. True they seem to list every single death that happens over there, but war is a major media event, and we haven't had one in a while. Plus, it's an indicator that it's still minor enough that they can list every single death and that it's not getting out of hand, fatality-wise.
Personally, there hasn't been a real war for freedom since WWII and every sign that this is still the case is fine by me. No one needs another war with those kinds of civilian casualties again. _________________

An important aspect is the speed at which information travels these days. Compared to 1944. Where the time between death and people in authority actually knowing who and if someone died, has decreased from days to minutes or hours. And the deaths are far enough apart for the media to jump on them.
Not bashing the media just pointing out the difference.
As for D-Day. We in Europe should always remember that day. _________________ "You are the universe, expressing itself as a human for a little while."
