I recently found this article on game-spy.

If this proves to be true we may just see much higher quality storytelling in games in the near future.
also I found this too

I'm a huge fan of elder scrolls but, really I have to say the series needs to end while we still have fond memories to cherish. I was horribly disappointed when I played the main plot of Oblivion. It was short and killed the whole plots of all the games that came before it. _________________ "words are the window to the imagination." |

I think it's great that Peter Jackson is interested in getting into the gaming industry. I hope he can work with a development house to bring truly good storytelling and cinematics to games.
As a professional game dev myself, though, I admit am a bit skeptical. As fantastic a film director as PJ is, there is much much much more to making a game than just knowing how to tell a good story and set up great shot sequences. (Not that making a great film is easy--far from it. But making a game is a different ballgame altogether.)
If PJ does get into game making, I sincerely hope he will do so in the role of a designer/cinematographer, instead of trying to control/oversee the entire development process. There are several examples of past game projects that have failed miserably because an accomplished film director attempted to be a game developer without first understanding what truly goes into making a good game. _________________ Styx: "Oh sure like flaming a dragon going to do massive damage, brave challenge there Teric." |

Just as long as they don't try making more movies based on video games. _________________ "Political Correctness is tyranny with manners." Charlton Heston

lol, good luck with that one, Knowing Hollywood, when they run out of ideas for movies, they look for almost anything to make a script and the most successful is the game industry. _________________ Fortune Cookie that I keep in my walet say's "Knowledge is the only good and Ignorance is the only evil."

I heard that they're making a movie based on the life-simulation game series The Sims!
I don't know how that's going to work, exactly... _________________ I'm called Steven, but it's not my first name!
