The stop motion looked a little janky to me; too much stop, not enough motion? But the models were excellent. I love the look of it. Looked like a lot of cliché jokes and story, too.
But does anybody really need to ask if I'm gonna go see it? _________________ Changed my name to Kantaro. |

I may have to wait for the DVD, but I'm gonna see it. _________________ Nicolai

RAISE FROM YOUR GRAVE!
I am a bit surprised at the absence of comments in this thread (And you call yourselves furries? DROP DOWN AND GIVE ME 10 FOR EACH MONTH THIS THREAD HAS BEEN FORGOTTEN!) I recently got it on Blu-ray + DVD combo, with free shipping courtesy of Amazon. Best 25 bucks spent.
I saw it in the theater, but the projector had this "jitter" that hurt my eyes from time to time. The Blu-ray, on the other hand, is stable.
The movie is a labor of love, plain and simple. They probably used some CGI here and there, but the dedication, detail and care put into this production puts even Pixar's work to shame. (Computers? WE DON'T NEED NO CUSSING COMPUTERS!")
There are zero pop references. Zero. (At least from what I can tell. They do reuse some existing songs, but they are classics.) This is a good thing. It feels fresh, original, new. (Considering it was a book, of course.) I hope for the sake of following generations, they had saved a lot of reference material, and the puppets themselves. Nothing looks cheap or tacky.
I seldom buy DVD or Blu-ray movies, preferring to rent them, but this time, I went ahead and ordered it as soon as it was available, just to show my support to Mr. Anderson and his crew, for taking the risk in bringing this to life on the screen and delivering in every way. I know enough Spanish and a bit of Portuguese to try the other language options, and it's equally funny without any sacrifices in quality. Excellent localization either way.
*MINOR SPOILER* There is a moment in which Mr. Fox decides to face the farmers for the sake of the other animals, probably risking getting killed. It only lasts three minutes, but had me with my guts wrenched, because it reminded me of my old man. This is how you bring a children's book to the cinema. (Cat in the Hat and Horton, I am GLARING at you.) Makes me wish there was some merchandise related to the movie, but probably the estate of Roald Dahl won't allow it. (Vinyl sculpture of Mr. Fox, anyone?)
If you haven't seen it, run like cuss to the video store and rent it. NAO.
Opinions?
(And no, I am not a shill for Amazon or Fox or Regency pictures. ) _________________ Hey, Sony... IT'S PAYBACK TIME!
