Ok, I've got another short story.
It may be a little raw, I wrote it today and did not do much in the way of editing.
It may also be a little controversial. _________________ I'm a nut, but there are those who appreciate me for it. |

I cna see why some might consdier it controversial, but I found it tightly written and most affecting. It also serves as a reminder that the other side is people, too.

People are just people most everywhere, aren't they?
Thank you for a very moving portrait of a family caught up in events they can't control, and a destiny they certainly never asked for. _________________ Oddly enough, my life is based on a true story. (Ashleigh Brilliant) |

The ones who lose in every war are the ones left behind.

I think my favorite saying applies here well.
"War never determines who is right. Only who is left."
Nice writing, Nameless. _________________ Tygon Panthera - name and species

The story has been updated with the corrections Concolor sent me.
Nothing big, just a few typos... _________________ I'm a nut, but there are those who appreciate me for it. |

Yes, the american tanks have the better range, but...
Usually it's the one that can target the opponentt first that wins. In a bettlefield with sand dunes and rocky outcrops there's always a chance of surprise.
Then there's the sand...
That was something the Germans learned about in WWII; that sand is just as effective in destroying a tank as a well-placed 75mm round...
The Iraqi military forces knows this and probably have equipment built for it, but how well does the A1(insert your favorite letters/numbers here) stand up to a prolonged exposure?
Why do you think the Israeli constructed the Merkawa(did I spell that right) instead of buying the A1?
(The Merkawa is considered one of the best fighting machines for desert conditions ever built)
The A1, when all comes to show is built for the European theatre, a remnant of the cold war, when it was supposed to face-off hordes of Russian T-72 and similar.
The T-72, which I understand IS in the Iraqi armed forces was built to face whatever climate/landscape they had in the old USSR...
If the conflict drags out, I believe we'll see a lot of high-tech machinery start to break, particularly tanks, choppers and fighter jets... _________________ "My name's Lion, Anthony Lion"
