Much better to get hold of an old NIKE missile.
Much larger diameter...
(Sidewinder: Wimpy air-to-air missile, NIKE: big, bad, ground-to-air that is supposed to take out his wingman, also. )
Either that, or a JATO... |
I was thinking more like an AGM-65 in his lap. That would get his attention.
Anyway, a very good chapter as usual. You, my dear filly, have done a wonderful job of creating a universe full of believable furs and a storyline that does not disappoint.

If I know the filly- and I'd like to think I know her well enough to judge *this* piece of supposition I'm about to make- then she's already got a pretty good idea of what she's going to do about Aureus.
But, an idea, that just came to me...
What if it was...supposed, to a certain Brotherhood wannabe, that Aureus was really a deep cover mole? Think about it this way: it could be let known that Aureus used to be a member of the military, specifically military intelligence (inferred *very* loosely, of course), and that, instead of fooling the psych eval furs into thinking he was remorseful for his actions, that instead he is actually working for the normal intelligence folks (local police, FBI, etc), in exchange for his early release. Instead of him being a loyal member of the Brotherhood, he's then seen as a mole, intended to get as close to the top as he can, so that he can rat them out. He then becomes an informant, and as such, placed where he can do the most good- to the intelligence folks. It wouldn't be hard to track down that he was indeed in the military, and with his previous rank, it wouldn't be hard to imagine that he was indeed trying to get back into the good graces of his former compatriots in order to escape jail; agreeing to get involved in some Brotherhood activities outside of the jail, could be interpreted as his being complicit in trying to rat out the Brotherhood, and they activities outside the jail, and their abilities (and their network) to do things outside of prison.
I wonder what the Brotherhood would do with someone in that light.....

Kellan, I'd have to reread the previous chapter to be sure, but they may not have been at Salt Lake long enough to get a team there. I'm thinking it'll be their next stop. But I think I'll go back and read that chapter again to get a better feel for the timing. It may prove me wrong.
Shirh, I like how you think, not too far off the idea I was promoting, though more vague and implicit than explicit. _________________ "Cogito, ergo es. I think, therefore you is." Ray D. Tutto (King of the Moon) to Baron Munschaussen |

You don't think a team was on their way there while Leo was talking to Nadia?
You have to remember this is the filly writing this. I wouldn't discount that happening to the kid's cars so quickly.

One problem, Shirh. While it wouldn't be unknown for the intelligence services to allow an informant to kill, it would rapidly become too hot for them if one of theirs started out on a mass murder campaign. They would literally "drop" him like a hot potato.
That would be the end of him, and a black eye on the agency involved. And with Leo's connections and background, and those of his security fur, I don't think it'd stay secret very long.
Still, an interesting idea. the Filly assures me she has a very nasty end for the jerky jackal in mind, so read on!

Oh...allow me to correct Tigermark and say...exceptionally nasty. You have no idea just how vile I intend to be to Benjamin Aureus until you get to it... |

*lol*
We both know that Aslaug's already got his number, so I'll simply say that the suggestion was to mention this...idea, to the Brotherhood. Who says that they'd rationally consider if he was really a double-agent or not? Just the thought that he could be, might have them act towards eliminating him. But, it was simply a thought of what could happen to him. _________________ "Life is not for the faint of heart. Live a little!!"

Nah, in his case it'd be Turkey Jerky.

That's mean to Turks, Tigermark...whatever did they do to deserve being shackled with Benjamin Aureus? |

Oh, you never know Filly. He could be talking about the overall intelligence of a certain Jackel.
Afterall, how many other animals do you know of that can drown themselves by looking upwards with an open mouth in the rain? _________________ "I'm not sure yet, but it'll involve a bucket of sour cream, three carrots, an architect lamp and a lump hammer. You have to admit, that is funny....and puts soooo many pictures in your head. |
