To quote Sabrina, "WOO-HOO!"
It was made official yesterday, I am BACK at Northrop-Grumman, the friendly folks who laid me off 10 days before Christmas 2006!
I'm still a contractor, but I'm working steady now (or will be), AND I'll be hoping for an opening to make me an actual employee with benefits and everything.
13 months later and they finally came to their senses

They give you both a laptop and a Blackberry?
I recently got a laptop by the office, myself, and I've only worked at the same place for 14 years...
(All right, I finally gave in and accepted one. A HP nc2400 with 12" LCD, 1GB RAM - soon to be 2GB - and both WinXP and Vista on it)

Awyeah
Downside, they can get hold of me anytime they want. Upside, it's web-enabled and I can play with Google Earth

It sure is! Vista? You poor soul!

When Dad ordered his new desktop and laptop a few weeks ago he made sure they were loaded with XP (NOT Vista). I hope MS doesn't cut XP support off soon with all the problems Vista has.
You know why they keep making computers more powerful and faster, don't you? It's so that the next version of Windows will boot and run almost as fast as the previous one. In another 20 years, it'll take 30 minutes to boot and be so laggy that you'll get bored and fall asleep waiting for it to type plain text on the (at that future time) latest hardware. _________________ "Cogito, ergo es. I use a 'Windows 2000 Server' T-shirt to wipe dust(that black fabric is just wonderful for that)...
Anyway, I used a Knoppix LiveCD to partition the laptop's HDD so that both versions of WinBlows would install correctly...
And just to be certain that I get the awful taste out of my mouth, I've just ordered an Asus eee PC(512MB RAM, 4GB FLASH Drive, 7" LCD, Linux preinstalled)
I've supported Winblows in one version or another for 14 years now.
That may be why I've been an OS/2 fanatic for almost as long...
(My love for OS X is a bit more recent, and Linux is... an interest only... yet) _________________ "My name's Lion, Anthony Lion"

Hey, if you wouldn't mind contacting me off-list, I'd like to know more about this Knoppix. The fact that you said Win would "install correctly" caught my attention. And since I'm going back into full-time computer support in ... 3 days ...

I used to know an OS/2 fanatic at Armstrong (you know, the people who wouldn't hire me even though I based an entire Story around their company) who would rather be mauled than touch another operating system. Must be something to it. |
