Mr. Green Lets really raise the ante!!!!
Warp Space so that all the stars in a galaxy slowly start to collect around the galactic core and shrink it in size by about 2/3rd with no major ill effects. Until then, at that point have everything collapse onto itself Mr. Green

Galaxy Go Boom!

Ooo... That would really hurt the space/time continium...!

It would be a real possibility, that during her time travelling, Tabitha accidentally runs into another time travelling being, who is cuasing destruction on a major scale. How much- well, he may not be exploding galaxies, but perhaps cities of an interstellar society just beyond the normal terrian furs that Tabitha lives with on her home.

If it wasn't for Tabitha's time travel, the Terrian Furs (as I'm calling them) would have eventually discovered the other space faring furs; or this event is still happening but unknown to Tabitha.....

Opps! There goes the Bruner Effect again!

An interesting in-sight from a flight of fancy I occassional go through Smile

Isn't Global Thermonuclear Warfare a fun game?

How the heck did I get this far afield?

What? A Time travel Paradox been floating around and I have not answered to it? UGH!!!! Shocked

Lets look at history itself:

London would have been a nuclear smooldering ash pile if Hitler did not killed off the German Atomic Bomb Project and switching all resources to the V2, instead of the orginal 50/50... Records should that they were almost 6 months into completing their first bomb.

The Enola Gay dropped the first Atom Bomb on Japan. There were 5 bombs in the US Arsenal; 2 tested at Los Alamos, 2 dropped on Japan, 1 that would have been dropped on Japan but Japan surrendered before that happened.

Italy was taking heavy casulties through the war since the beginning, and if won, would have been the weaker of the 3.

Now: Lets move the cup of coffee so the Axis powers would have won:

Germany would have created the bomb before the US... making as many as they can in the shortest amount of time possible, and imposing rumours that they had more when they didn't during the war, putting the few that they had on the V2's, Launching them onto London and the rest of Great Britian. England would fall faster than Japan did to the US.

In attempt to speed up the process, the US finishes theirs in 3 months, but with out rockets to send them on, must rely on bombers. Furthermore, they were able to build 4 bombs instead of 5. Still battling Japan in the pacific, The Enola Gay is sent on a suicide mission and is eventually shot down. Why, not enough fighter escorts to protect it along the way, has it happened "before." It crashes more or less intact, and the Japanese finds the bomb. The US send 2 more bombers on suicide missions, none survive their missions and Japan finds 1 of these two more bombs.

Desperate, the US uses the last remaining bomb on Germany to free england from their oppressors. Missing the intended target, the Black Forest Burns... The Bomber sent- shot down before it got to its target and the crew set off the bomb in a last ditch effort. At least they took the fighter squadron that shot them down with them in the first place.

This forces both Germany and Japan to use their bombs on the US. Victory is assured as the Pacific Fleet is destroyed in a single fire ball by the Japanese and an East Coast City burns thanks to the Germans.

Pretty damn grimm I must say.

There after, they develop their arsenal, with Fermi returning to Italy to make theirs. 3 "World Powers" with the Bomb, each thinking that they were the Master Race...

Both the US and Russian Under Ground create their own bombs in secrecy... both wanting freedom from their oppressors by any means necessary.

The Jet Age and Near Trans-World Travel evolve. Technology improves. Things get smaller. Electronics evolve as well. The underground learns to make of these things and add them to their programs.

One day...

World War 3 begins in the midst of the Latin American Liberations Guerra Wars of the 50's. Castro and Guerras are caught and sent to questioning in Germany. They tell of rumours of about "the bomb" being in the hands of their friends...

The first strike is launched, then another, and several more...

Russian underground throws in their hand, attacking Germany. Japan retailates.

Italy see an oppertunity to become #1 and tries peaceful negotications. Germany evenually sees through the deception and starts war with Italy. Russia turns it attempts to fight Japan.

Most of the Northern Hemisphere is totalled in radiation and nuclear cloud. Nuclear Winter sets in to the north 1/2 of the planet first.

...
Twisted Evil

All this from moving 1 cup of coffee?
Well, It is said that Coffee IS the food of the GODS! Very Happy

Something my evil little head was pondering while taking a long bus ride to my server... the things my subconcious creates!!!!

A sun-like star in its final stage of life... turning into an iron ball... grows cold.

In its outer orbit fringe, a gas Giant, so like Jupiter... with many moons... most getting their warmth from the gravitational friction from their orbit about their large friend. But this far out, it is dark.

How would a civilization survive? They can, if the planet-moon is warm enough and "plants" would use chemo- or thermo- synthesis. Intellegent life? They would be practically sightless- no? But if they became space faring, even FTL and Time traveling...?

How would they be like? Definately so unlike us, wont they?

hmmm... interesting concept.

When growing up in darkness I guess they would relay on other than sigh. They probably would be able to sense heat like snakes can. Or they have a sonar like bats.

Another possibilty would be that they can sense changes in the density of the air around them or air movement. Cats can do the latter.

Of course, a highly developed sense of smell wouldn't be unusual either.

Regarding looks, that would depend the world but with total or almost total darkness they wouldn't have eyes ot only very small, rudimentary eyes.

Indeed, a very interesting concept.

One thing I did not take into consideration is that, this civilization may have evolved through the millions of years while their sun was dying. They may have sight as far as a sense is concerned. But would it have attrophied or enhanced through adaptation of artifical sources and lower visual frequencies. Such a possiblity would be that if there ever arrived to earth, to us furs, they would have large eyes that are very sensitive to light, like a Giant Squid- which is very sensitive to light due to its size, making it able to capture a stray photon that managed to get itself into hundreds of feet underwater.

At least they can go down to ChinaTown (NYC) and get themselves some cheap sunglasses...

Yes, that could be, but it would depend on whether they had another sense to depend on or not.

Take the whales for example. They don't need they eyes much because they can't see underwater anyway. Or at least not very much. But they developed a natural sonar so they have a replacement sense for their sight. Ergo, their eyes attrophied and became very small, compared to the size of their bodies.

Or developed such technologies that replaces or enhances sight altogether.
Like you said with whales, Sonar, but also add: Radar or something strange to pick up IR VL and/or UV.

True but they would have to have had them very long to cause it to affect their bodies. Any if you go into cybernetics you'd need to think up details about their technology and sense of design Smile

It would be different if the loss of light had come suddenly and when they already had technology available or got it soon after the light was gone (a few hundred years max. In that case they could all be running around with some kind of visor or, if they are more advanced, implants.
