Y'all will be happy to know that chapter 28 is in the can and has been sent off to the editor. I should hopefully get it back sometime this weekend and will post it promptly.
It answers many questions and prods a secondary plot line along a little too.

I can just see it:
Mr. Dragon comes home after a busy day "Darling, I'm home."
"Hello. Did you bring the 50 pounds of gold coins? I need them for the big family dinner tomorrow."
"Of course. The king had a new hero, but his supposedly fire-proof armor did not help him all that much. So his majesty forked over the stuff."
"Thanks. Let me see."
He hands her the large sack with the coins.
She opens it, takes one out and looks at it. Frowning, she picks another, then another. "The bastard. You did not bother to check them, did you?"
"No, sorry, I was in a hurry. Why?"
"These are from King Aldric's reign. You know how much base metals they mixed in during that time. If we serve those, we'll be the laughingstock of the whole family for the next several centuries."
He groans and picks up the sack "I'll bring them back and make sure that bloody king gives me the pure stuff this time."

That was quite an informative chapter. I always thought dragons horded gold to strengthen there scales. Who knew?

One thing I dont get is why specks would be captured by the world mage.
Well it really has been a good couple of chapters.

Y'all are assuming that the Specs was captured and didn't go with the World Mage of his own free will. Then again, maybe the WM did capture him.
Remember, Hecate has alluded to the fact that Specs is a wild card of some type and that she wants to control him. It only makes sense that a rival might make a move too.
