He awoke the beast with the big, rubber tires
As he stared down the road past the hood made of fire.
With 500 horse power under the hood,
He’d make it past 200, he surely would.
The driver was very intense and very quiet,
while the roar of the beast made quite a riot.
The light was red which meant “no action,”
Then the light turned green to his satisfaction
He pressed the gas pedal to the floor, with all his strength and might,
Causing the beast to rear up on its hind legs, then speed into the night.
Speeding by were the lines on the road,
Then he hit 255, where the careless explode.
With the gasoline in his blood and fire in his veins,
The hot-rod maniac would now ride the soul-train.
Now this young man will drive no more,
No more pressing the gas pedal to the floor.
No more lines speeding by on the road,
Since he hit 255, where the careless explode.
