The mouse isn't Arden. Lakash would go after Tammy as a way of getting back at Arden through Sheila. What I've seen so far of the mouse doesn't strike me as being overly positive yet. Becoming the nanny (this strikes me as being a feminine title, though Webster doesn't apply gender to it) could either be a way of reneging on his deal with Arden in the middle of act 3 (nobody messes with the kits until they're 20) or a way of ensuring it (which I doubt).
I think it would be interesting to see his reaction if Zig chooses another nanny instead regardless of his manipulations. _________________ "Cogito, ergo es. I think, therefore you is." Ray D. Tutto (King of the Moon) to Baron Munschaussen |

Hi. I've been a shadow dwelling 'fraidy-cat for a while now, but I have an idea I haven't read yet. I want to share - why can't the Jackal be Lakesh? I mean, after what has happened, Lakesh would be righteously pissed. I think the almost spastic anger from the jackal fits better than the mouse. I think the mouse is Luci's avatar, or just some random agent. As for Arden, I think it's Anatol. Either that, or we haven't seen him yet. But that's just my $.02. Have Fun!!

If the jackle were lakash (which I doubt) I don't think he'd be so round about getting back at Arden he'd go right for Arden without thinking like he did that one dragon in ACT II (besides I don't really think Lakash is a factor anymore he was stripped of power at the end of ACT III and banished to someplace extreamly remote place can't remember exactly. _________________ "Political Correctness is tyranny with manners." Lakash was banished to a realm without native magic, that's about all that was said. Sheila was told that Arden would be in a familiar form, which Anatol fits (tiger-striped skunk). That doesn't necessarily mean that Anatol has enough of Arden yet to have knowledge of being Arden but enough that certain phrases and an attraction hint at it. _________________ "Cogito, ergo es. Well, I still think that the jackal might be Lakesh - he was banished to a realm with no native magic, which this one fits, and if he doesn't know who Arden is (and he wouldn't, having been banished before anythig else happened), he wouldn't be able to go after him. But I'm sure he knows that Arden would come to rescue any friends/family he got his greasy paws on, and in that way he could lure Arden to himself to get his revenge. Makes sense to my twisted mind. I'm just waiting to see what happens. I hate waiting, but I love the feeling of satisfaction of a good read, so this is wonderful torture!!! Have fun A/all!!

Sorry for the delay. I had planned to get a chapter out last week, but unfortunately the phone wouldn't stop ringing. Look for one this weekend.
As for Lakash, you're right. He'd have no idea who or what Arden came back as.

It's cool about the delay - sometimes things don't go as planned. I've been in that situation quite a lot. The Navy has a knack for ruining plans, especially plans made long in advance, with no option to change at the last minute. Gotta' love military life!!! Tonight was prime example - a guy came into the duty office to check out on leave. His leave was approved a week ago, but the paperwork didn't make it to the duty office, so he wasn't allowed to check out on leave. He had plans for tomorrow that can't be changed, so he's out of luck. This from the E-7 on duty tonight. He can come in tomorrow and try to find his paperwork, but he'll miss out on his family reunion to do it. The real killer is that his leave has been approved for a week, and if he had bought a plane ticket for tonight, he would have lost money. Thankfully, that wasn't the case, so it's not totally bad, but it still doesn't give that "warm fuzzy feeling". I swear, Murphey LOVES the Navy!! So I understand that life can throw a curveball now and then, and things don't always go as planned. Take as long as you need for the next chapter, 'cause they've always been worth the wait! Have Fun A/all!!

Might as well OA the story to keep the thread going.
From hints given in the story, I'd say the jackal is more likely "Lucy". Lakash was banished to a non-magic world but that doesn't necessarily mean this one. It could even be Arden's original world. Though, to keep things interesting, he may be here after all. I just haven't seen any new characters that hint at being him yet. _________________ "Cogito, ergo es. I think, therefore you is." Ray D. Never fear, there will be more to the story soon, including a few more new characters of note.
Right now, I'm just trying to catch up from being away for 5 days at MFM. Had a blast, killed my knee and back, and am currently wishing I could trade my body in on a cyborg model ala Ghost in the Shell.
