Long week. Spent Wed-Fri down in Paola (35-40 min drive down, 45-90 min drive back ) covering the office for a customer. They all went scuba diving down in the keys and left me to cover the store.
Wasn't a bad job. Other than some glitches with running the Western Union stuff, things were pretty smoothe....... except for the drive home.
Now understand that I'm not driving OUT of Kansas City, I'm driving INTO it during rush hour. This normally isn't an issue as everyone's trying to get out of town, not go in.
Not this week.
All three days, a trip that should have taken 45 min top took closer to an hour or more. Idiots slowing down for NO REASON AT ALL. I even called the traffic guys and asked if there had been any reason and they said nope.
Of course, there WERE some slow-downs that had a reson.
Yep.. construction.
Example. Take a 4 lane devided road that's a major through way and decide to do some shoulder work on it.
Now enter the rocket scientists. These morons blocked off the ENTIRE DBL LANE going South... Why did they do that? So they could park their personal cars in the left lane and work trucks in the right lane while they worked.
I hate kansas.
Did I mention that the temps were 85+ and my car has no AC?
I hate summer
No chapter this week.
Sorry.
I hate Kansas in the summer.... I really do. _________________ Read my comic: http://www.ImperialGelf.com

There's only one good thing about a situation like summer traffic - if you drink enough water to keep from dehydrating, you'll lose weight. I lost about 70 lbs a few years ago by watching how much I was eating, and drinking lots of water. I worked outside in the heat in summer, and the weight just fell off. It's starting again this year too. I'm in the central California Valley, and my car has no AC either. I've already lost about 10 lbs in the last few weeks, and I'm looking forward to getting back to where I was a few years ago. Good luck to you, the heat might be a blessing in disguise!

Finished up a 16 page coloring job for Style Wager. Took most of the day.
I'm going to go take a nap and see if I have enough energy left to do some writing.
Odds are, no chatper this week. _________________ Read my comic: http://www.ImperialGelf.com

Considering how top-heavy some of his characters are, I'm not surprised.... _________________ Hortmage, the Magic Gardener

I deposited two checks into my bank account last week that totaled just over $300. This cash was supposed to go towards rent. Unfortunately, both checks have bounced on me. One guy swears he doesn't know why it bounced and he's (supposedly) getting me a money order for the amount of the check plus some to cover the bounce fees.
Normally, something like this would destroy me, except for the fact that I worked two days down in Paola, covering the store for one of my customers. As a result, I was able to deposit $300 from them in the bank also, so I'm not totally broke. In fact, I should have enough money to cover rent, except for one minor problem. On Tuesday, A $140 payment for SBC and a $125 payment for Providian are both going to hit my bank.
Only way I can cover both those charges and pay rent is to empty my MFM piggy bank and use that t pay rent.
With only two months left before the con, I'm doubtful that I'll have the cash saved up to get there, much less afford a room and food for the weekend.
I am so screwed. |

Just out of curiosity, how much does it cost to go to a Con like that one? I've never had the opportunity to go to any, but I'm looking into starting. I really wanted to go to the last FurCon out here in Cali, but I was on deployment at the time. Maybe next year. But how much were you planning on having for the MFM? That'll give me a ballpark. Wish you better luck!!

Depending on how many people you split the room with, it can be as little as $70 or as much as $350 for the weekend. Figure your gas to attend plus food while you're at the con (expect about $30-50/day at the hotel, less if you go out for fast-food). Of course, there's admission to the con which is about $45 and, of course, any money you spend on buying stuff at the con (I've spent HUNDREDS buying stuff. )
It is, however, well worth the effort to attend. If you can get a good room-share going, I'd say you could do the con for around $200 plus travel expenses.

Hey Hikaru, how are things going with your life? I've seen you posting on the other threads but you haven't given us an update about anything in your life like you normally do.
Did everything work out or are you still trying to get things sorted out? I've been looking down at the main thread for a new post to see how things where going but well...No update, so I thought I would ask. _________________ Crazy Black Panther, obscur and strange as always

I'm taking a break until after MFM. I have some ideas as to where I want to go with the story and I'll be working them out during the trip.
It's going to be about a 10 hour drive from KC to Memphis, so I'll have plenty of time to scheme both coming and going.

We'll be expecting to read a lot of that scheming when you get back then. Have a nice trip, let it charge up your creativity to overflowing. _________________ "Cogito, ergo es. I think, therefore you is." Ray D. Tutto (King of the Moon) to Baron Munschaussen |

There is always hope... at the moment, though, I'm still pretty burned out with not only the story, but dealing with the aftermath of the fire in Nov as well as all the holiday crap.
I am trying to work on an alternate project as a break from the grind, but it's not easy.
