I seem to be having major problems sending email through my PF account through using Outlook. Any idea what this would be?
Says it is an IP routing error. _________________ ~Sammie the Pizza Box

Okay. It's not so much a problem that I want to hurt things, but I'll give you complete details. _________________ ~Sammie the Pizza Box

|

I'll use Outlook 2002 for this example. Some things may look a little different, but basically it's the same.
Inside Outlook, go to Tools, Email Accounts. Older versions may not have this, so close Outlook, go to the Control Panel, open Mail, and click the Email Accounts button.
For this example, we will be adding a new account, so click on the Add a new e-mail account button, and click Next.
Click on the POP3 button, and click Next. (you are able to use either POP3 or IMAP, but for simplicity we will stick with POP3 for this tutorial)
Fill in the various fields: Your Name, E-mail Address, User Name (remember to add @planetfurry to it), and Password. The Incoming mail server (POP3) and Outgoing mail server (SMTP) are both mail.planetfurry.com.
Don't select the option to login using Secure Password Authentication, and don't click Next yet...
We're almost done. Click the More Settings... button, and go to the Outgoing Server tab. Check the My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication, and fill in the User Name and Password fields. (some versions have an option to use the incoming mail server's settings, which will work as long as they are correct)
Again, don't check the option to log in using Secure Password Authentication. This is bad. Click Okay, and click Next. On the last page, click Finish. You're done. |

Aw, crap.
Seems like the email client I wanted to use with my mailbox here does not support SMTP auth.
I guess I'll have to look for another one.
P.S.

If you cannot access or send email from your email client, try http://mail.planetfurry.com. |

I can receive mail, so the POP part works, sending gives me an error message, something like "Connection closed by ..."
Webmail is only for emergency use, I'm going to try another email client. _________________ I'm a nut, but there are those who appreciate me for it. |
