Eye of Horus? you might ask. What does that mean? you might ask as well.
Good questions! I'd say.
Well, after long thinking, pondering story ideas and reworking plots I finally got my own Adventure Kay Story off the ground.
Well, for an Adventure Kay story it is kinda strange for it does not feature Kay at all. Instead we will take a look at the background of some of the characters known from the other Adventure Kay Stories.
So, it is a great pleasure for me to present to you
Guatemala Maxx and the Eye of Horus
Clicking the title will take you to the first chapter, which is posted on my site. I suspect that a PDF version on the Raccoon's Bookshelf will follow soon.
As a word of explanation, the Guatemala Maxx in this stors is NOT the same as the one in the other stories. It's his grandfather. Regarding the other characters... well, you will see.
Also, I would like you to know that this is a serious story. There will be some jokes and you will (hopefully) get to laugh now and then but you won't find any of the... sillyness known from other Adventure Kay stories in this one.
Okay, I think that is all for now. Happy reading! I hope you will enjoy it. _________________ Tygon Panthera - name and species

Heehee... You asked for it now.
*Sung to the Indiana Jones theme song*
Here he comes now, who you ask?/Why it's Guate-mala Maxx, Maxx, Maxx!/Mentored by Ad-venture Kay/He is here to save the day-day, the day-day, the day-day the day-day-day-day-day (ba-da-da-bum-bum-bum)
Sorry, I couldn't resist.
Seriously, it's a great story, peeps. Take a look. Older characters in a different setting.

I like it.
Mr. Panthera is his usual 'condecending' self, and as usual, he has his motives well hidden. This time he's looking for the Eye of Horus - which sounds like another 'eternal life' thing - not at all unusual in archeology. If there's one big idea that seems to run through all cutures and religions, it's the eternal life thing. So it's not surprizing we have another example here. But the Object of the Quest (The Eye) is never as interesting as the Quest itslef, and that's as it should be. It's the Quest that matters. Looks like we have some very interesting characters to start with here and that should make the Quest very interesting as well.
Good start Ty. Hope to see more soon.

Thanks, Mike, Tigermark and Cirrel.
I'm very glad that you like the story. I hope I will have the second chapter up by the end of the month. That's the plan at least. _________________ Tygon Panthera - name and species

Great start TY! I like the Indiana Jones feel to it, but I think my favorite part is how you portray Mr. Panthera and his Maine-Coon lady. They probably aren't the villians in this story, but they have that attitude that seems so appropriate. I look forward to the next installment. Keep up the great work! _________________ Companions the creator seeks, not corpses, not herds and believers. Fellow creators the creator seeks--those who write new values on new tablets.

Thanks. Aramis. I'm glad that the characters turned out as I had planned.
On a related note, things look great for a April the first posting of chapter 2. For once I am on shedule! _________________ Tygon Panthera - name and species

Here is the new story Index for Guatemala Maxx and the Eye of Horus.
I hope you will like. _________________ Tygon Panthera - name and species

Great set-up Ty. Its always hard to give the reader the facts they need and make it interesting at the same time. The tension between Maxx and Mike was what made the 'dry' part of explaining the setting interesting. We've got characters. Weve got a setting, and we have a plot. Looks like it can only get better.

I agree with Cirrel. The intial research part of any adventure tends to be the most boring part (for the characters as well as the readers), but the character interactions did make it more interesting. You also described the fatigue and impatience of the research phase quite well and I was able to readily identify with Maxx's exasperation. I would recommend giving it a more thorough proofreading, but other than that I found myself pulled into the story more. Can't wait to see what happens to our heroes in Egypt.
I also thought that "Crazy Bookcoon" was a great touch. Looks like Mike has a new nickname now. _________________ Companions the creator seeks, not corpses, not herds and believers. Fellow creators the creator seeks--those who write new values on new tablets.

Thanks everyone, I'm really glad you like it. I wanted to show this research part because I think it's part of the story... plus, I got to do some character introduction and development...
Ah, who the heck am I kidding... I just started writing and this came out. I'm happy to hear that it worked out.
And regarding the "Crazy Bookcoon"... well, he's young so I couldn't call him the "Old Grey Raccoon" _________________ Tygon Panthera - name and species

It has been pointed out to me that I posted an unedited version of chapter 2. I apologize for that. I have corrected that mistake and sheduled a public flaying to make sure I won't do it again. _________________ Tygon Panthera - name and species
