For anyone looking for something to read, provided you don't mind adult themes. It's not quite as bad, but if you liked Sara's Story, you should enjoy that book:
Kushiel's Dart by Jacqueline Carey.
It has a rather interesting view on sex and religion...
Anybody here who has already read it? _________________ I'm a nut, but there are those who appreciate me for it. |

I'm reading it now and am about 80% of the way through. While I can see some similarities with Sara's Story, there are some important differences. The main character, Phedré, has the unusual characteristic in that she actually derives pleasure from pain and humiliation, unlike Sara, who tolerates it because she has no other option. It makes Phedré a very highly sought after courtesan, and this is a major element of her character, of who she is, but the scenes where she makes use of her talent are usually short and not very detailed. The book is heavily into intrigue, politics, game of houses, and so forth, as the main characters try to head off threats of impending war. Good luck trying to keep track of all the numerous characters. And if it matters, it's not furry.
What Phedré fears most in the story is her own reaction to one of the antagonists in the story. One suspects that if she ever found someone she could trust as a friend and ally who affected her the same way, she'd feel like she'd died and gone to heaven. _________________ mwalimu

Some more time that I could have used for writing lost...
Night Watch by Terry Pratchett
Recommended, like all his books. _________________ I'm a nut, but there are those who appreciate me for it. |

Ok, if anyone wants to know where my login name came from, here is the book:
Grunts! by Mary Gentle.
Fantasy with a little SF thrown in. Lots of violence and some adulty stuff. Pretty funny as well. I enjoyed it a lot. _________________ I'm a nut, but there are those who appreciate me for it. |

Oh, WOW.
A great story I just read:
Sympathy for the Devil by Klisoura.
It's got a little yiff in it, but only one short scene (for those who don't like that, one can easily skip it).
I don't know what to feel yet, but a great story. _________________ I'm a nut, but there are those who appreciate me for it. |
